What is ÖSD?
ÖSD, short for “Österreich – Schweiz – Deutschland” as well as “Österreichisches Sprachdiplom Deutsch”, is Austria’s state-approved examination system for German as a Foreign/Second Language. Recognized internationally and aligned with the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR), an ÖSD certificate is your gateway to:
- Austrian citizenship: B1 level required
- Family reunification: A1 level for visa applications
- University admission: Most institutions require C1
- Employment opportunities: Recognized by AMS and employers
- Professional advancement: Career qualification in German-speaking countries
